Joule Energy+ NuriFlex
NuriFlex engineered the platform and delivered 6.2 million units across 22 countries, including KEPCO’s nationwide rollout. Joule Energy is the exclusive partner that supplies, installs and supports that stack in Africa.
Two companies. One African contract.
For three decades NuriFlex has built advanced metering and energy IoT from Seoul — smart meters through meter-data management, loss detection, transformer monitoring and virtual power plants. The company is listed on KOSDAQ. It holds more than 90 percent of South Korea's AMI market through KEPCO, the national utility, and it has shipped 6.2 million units to 22 countries.
A municipality contracts with Joule Energy. The stack on that contract is NuriFlex’s.

What a municipality contracts
Supply, installation, commissioning, billing integration and maintenance sit in one South African agreement. The meters, head-end and software remain NuriFlex’s.
Programme delivery
Feasibility, procurement support, installation, commissioning and cutover — one contract with Joule as prime.
Revenue & loss management
AMI remote reading and prepayment, plus AI-driven ELMS for theft, tampering and technical loss detection.
After-sales & lifecycle
Maintenance, spares, firmware and field support — not a fly-in deployment that disappears after handover.
Industrialisation
SKD smart meter factory investment aligned with Ghana's ECG reference model — jobs, skills transfer and local content.
Joule Energy + NuriFlex = world-class smart metering technology, delivered and supported locally.

A South African factory, still a pathway
The operating SKD factory is NuriFlex's, built for the ECG deployment in Ghana: about 1,500 smart meters a day and on the order of 100 direct jobs. Joule has not delivered that factory. Joule's South African role is to pursue the same model with municipalities and government — local assembly, skills transfer and an indicative eight to twelve months from commitment. It is a proposal, not a completed Joule project.
